Detty Green December 2025

Every December, Ibadan becomes a little “detty.” Streets overflow with plastic waste, gutters clog, floods worsen — and at the same time, thousands of families struggle to afford food for the holidays

What Is Detty Green December?

Detty Green December is a festive-season campaign under the Oyo Plastic Drive (OPD) initiative — organized by For Nature and Future Eco-Green Initiative (FONAFEGI) in collaboration with the Oyo State Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources.

The goal is simple:
 ♻️ Collect thousands of kilograms of plastic waste.
 🍚 Feed hundreds of families in need.

We’re creating a December that’s not just detty — but green, generous, and impactful.

Our Mission

To inspire action across Ibadan by:

Collecting plastic waste

from communities, schools, and markets.

Rewarding participants

with food items for their effort.

Recycling collected waste

through our partners to sustain the campaign.

Raising awareness

on plastic pollution, waste management, and sustainability.

This isn’t just about cleanup — it’s about changing mindsets and restoring dignity.

WAYS TO SUPPORT

How It Works

Collect Plastics:

Residents gather plastic bottles and drop them at designated centers across Ibadan.

Get Food Items:

Each contributor receives staple food items (rice, beans, garri, oil) as a token of appreciation.

Recycle:

The plastics are handed to our recycling partners, and proceeds fund more campaigns across communities.

Celebrate at Detty Green Fest:

We close the campaign with music, awards, and stories of impact.
